In 2008, there were 4,827 permitted boats engaged in Charter fishing for School and Giant Bluefin Tuna. Harvest method is rod and reel. When fishing for School Bluefin Tuna Charter boats fall under Recreational Category size, retention and reporting limits and when fishing for Giant Bluefin Tuna fall under General Category size, retention and reporting limits. Charter boat catches fall under both Recreational and Commercial quotas.
